Escaping Roots or Extending Consciousness

Reggae Music lives. Read about this discussion over international reggae and the future for crossover talent:

Last night at Liberty Hall in downtown Kingston there was a panel discussion entitled “Escaping Roots of Extending Consciousness”. The panelists were Terry Lynn, a Jamaican artist who has found inspiration in European electronic music, as well as Alborosie and Gentleman, European artists who have found inspiration in Jamaican music. Carolyn Cooper moderated the discussion, which had been organized by the folks behind the upcoming documentary Journey to Jah (it’s a film about the aforementioned Europeans and their connection to Jamaica).

The conversation was pretty interesting, with all three artists describing how they got their respective starts in music and how they feel that they’ve found their right outlet/niche. Dancehall Now as of June 25th will have a new co-host alongside Highlanda's own Super Pec

Dancehall Now as of June 25th will have a new co-host alongside Highlanda’s own Super Pec

It is a pleasure to introduce myself as a new addition to the Dancehall Now team! The announcement was formally aired June 25th as the current co-host Miss Terri K delivered a brief speech proclaiming her hiatus from the show to commence a Masters Program in Computers and IT at Georgia State University.
My Caribbean sister along with Selecta Super Pec of Highlanda dubbed Lady Laleebella as the new host and I enthusiastically accepted.
I currently co-host Reggae Vault Classics every Wednesday with Highlanda fom 6-9pm, so I was more than honored to comply with the request to fill in a another slot at my home radio station Daflavaradio.com. I will be taking over the baton as it was passed to me by Miss TKMS  starting Tuesday, July 2nd, and will continue to forecast the hottest dancehall downloads every Tuesday from 6-9pm EST.

Dancehall Now focuses on highlighting up and coming artists along with their brand new riddims and tracks that often go unheard by the general public. The musical selection is a Caribbean blend of the latest soca, dancehall, and reggae tracks.
A popular segment of the show is the International Top Rated 8 At 8:00 Countdown. The list comprises the top songs placing them into a unique matrix to determine the precise order of each single. This accurate formula calculates the latest trends in music and delivers an upbeat sequence of blazing new tunes.

Check out this week’s selection as of June 25th and stay updated on the soundtrack for future shows!
