Mavado Overcomes Atlanta

As you know Gully Gawd is always on the Go! The mission: to make every supporter and fan feel so special

Dancehall entertainer David ‘Mavado’ Brooks has been enjoying success in the United States since signing to DJ Khaled’s We The Best Family. His music has reached new horizons with American listeners while taking Jamaican music to an International platform. Nearly 10 years in the game, Mavado has an elaborate collection of memorable singles starting with 2005 Wah Dem Ah Do on Guinness & Red Bull Riddim up to his latest feature with Snoop Lion in Lighters Up. He was even cast as co-star alongside Kymani for the pending sequel to Jamaica’s Bad boy film Shottas 2.

As Gully Gawd of Cassava Piece Jamaica touched down in Atlanta, he must have took into consideration the number of people he would encounter on his mission to complete a successful show in the dirty south. Young Money/We the Best artist Mavado united the Caribbean and Hip Hop Community during a live performance of his greatest international hits. Yardies and Shorties stood shoulder to shoulder in the packed to capacity venue of over 1,000 people on the rainy weekend night. Support from the Caribbean community was evident Saturday March 23 2013 when Mavado followers from all corners arrived at the Atrium on Memorial Dr., despite heavy rain, to salute Gully Gawd for his ongoing presence in mainstream Dancehall and Reggae.

The Gully Gawd arrived on stage minutes before 3 am belting out favorites like So Special,Overcome,Caribbean Girls,Gal ah Mad Ova, and his verse on Laza Morgan’s One by One. The performance was high energy for Mr. Mavado as he removed his blue polo and got intimate with female fans in the crowd. Every bad man had their hands up screaming “FORWARD” while he spit out his and Jay-Z’s verse on I’m on the Rock.

Jamaica’s “Million Dolla Man” spent time in Georgia to connect with local industry talent and perform live.

The emcee visited Caribbean food venue Mango’s and snapped a quick photo with Georgia State student Quiana, who was all smiles.

Much love was shown when Mavado stopped by Atlanta’s People Station V103 to link up with DJ Kash on the air. The two also united with DJ Drama and Future to discuss music.
